No.1 Spotlight: Caroline Wozniacki

The daughter of Polish immigrants to Denmark, Caroline Wozniacki speaks six languages, yet it is her fluency around a tennis court that has brought her world renown.

Her rise up the ranks was rapid and silverware filled, although far from unexpected, coming as it did on the back of a stellar junior career. Fleet of foot and unerringly consistent off either wing, she finished her first full season on tour in 2007 at No.64, picking up her first, second and third career titles the following year.

Further success was to follow as Wozniacki established herself as one of the standard bearers of the WTA's next generation of stars; in 2009, still just 19, she finished runner-up to Kim Clijsters at the US Open and sustained this excellence over the next two seasons, winning 12 tournaments and enjoying 67 weeks at the top of the rankings.

• Tied for the lead or led the WTA in titles won for a season three straight years (2009-11). Also led WTA in match wins in 2009-11
• Her 67 weeks spent at World No.1 is ninth most all-time. Finished year at No.1 twice (2010-11)
• 2009 US Open runner-up, making her first Dane, male or female, to reach Grand Slam final in Open Era
• Her 20 WTA titles is fourth most among active players
• One of 14 players to cross the $15 million mark in career prize money
• Member of Danish Fed Cup Team from 2005-11 and Danish Olympic Team in 2008 and 2012
• Won WTA's Most Impressive Newcomer Award in 2008
• Won WTA's Diamond Aces Award in 2011
• Won WTA's Fan Favorite Twitter Award in 2012
