All About Rankings

The WTA rankings are based on a 52-week, cumulative system. A player's ranking is determined by her result at a maximum of 16 tournaments for singles and 11 for doubles. The tournaments that count towards a player's ranking are those that yield the highest ranking points during the rolling 52-week period. They must include points from the Grand Slams, Premier Mandatory tournaments and the BNP Paribas WTA Championships. For Top 20 players, their best two results at Premier 5 tournaments (Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Montréal/Toronto and Wuhan) will also count. In order to appear on the WTA rankings, players must earn ranking points in at least 3 tournaments, or a minimum of 10 singles ranking points or 10 doubles ranking points in one or more tournaments. The WTA Board of Directors approved an adjustment to the current WTA Ranking Point Distribution. The new ranking points will be introduced over a 12-month period from the start of the 2014 season.

The Road To Singapore Leaderboard is based on ranking points earned during the 2014 season. In singles, each player will be able to count their 16 best results, following the guidelines outlined by the ranking system rules, while each doubles team will count its best 11 results as a team.
