SAN DIEGO, CA, USA - Not many players came into the Acura Classic having achieved more in the last year across two disciplines than Samantha Stosur. The 22-year-old Australian is not only the world's No.1 doubles player (co-ranked with regular partner Lisa Raymond) but she is fresh off her career Top 40 debut in singles, coming in off an impressive run to the Bank of the West Classic quarterfinals last week. Now, read along as Stosur writes the latest Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Player Blog from the La Costa Resort and Spa in sunny San Diego.

Howdy Everyone,
This morning I really struggled to get up out of bed. I was so tired and I haven't really woken up much since then. I'd better find some energy soon as I'm going for practice soon and then am playing later tonight. Last night we played the second night match; we were done by around 10:30pm, which wasn't actually too bad, but still wasn't easy to sleep for a couple of hours after that. We won the match, 64 75. It was a pretty good match and we had some fun rallies and hopefully kept all the fans that stayed to watch us entertained :)
Not much has happened today. I went out for breakfast, had some scrambled eggs, which were great, and then came back to the resort for a practice session with Lisa. The beach looked awesome this morning but I couldn't take a quick dip, maybe tomorrow. Since practicing I managed to get a quick 30 minute massage, have some lunch and after that watched a little bit of the tennis. It was pretty hot out there so I didn't stay for long.
Since then I've gone back to my room, watched a little TV and then fell asleep. Lucky I set my alarm just in case... it woke me up when it went off at 5pm. I thought I hit the snooze button but I must have missed it and just woke up again and realized I had to start to get ready because it was 5:30pm!
Tonight we are playing Meghann Shaunghnessy and Anna-Lena Gronefeld. We have played them once before; it was in the Aussie Open semifinal. We won that match so fingers crossed we do the same tonight.
Chat to you tomorrow,
Sam

Hi everyone,
I hope you're doing well today and have been able to enjoy some beautiful weather like I have today in San Diego.
It has been good day. I went out for breakfast and had some eggs and toast. It was nice to get out in the morning and go somewhere different. Lisa and I practiced for just over an hour in the late morning; it went well and we got to work on a few things, which was good. Since practice the day has been quiet. I had some lunch and then as usual made my daily trip to the physios again. They have been working hard fixing my body parts. It's a good thing they are here, that's for sure!
Since then I have just been on the net doing what I usually do, writing a few e-mails, getting the important stuff done first and then messing around. Because I watched Family Guy last night I remembered a site that the other notorious Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Blogger, Bryanne Stewart, showed me, the Stewie Soundboard. It's so funny. I could repeat some lines but I don't think that's a good idea - I don't want to scare everyone away!
Before we play tonight we'll be having another light hit. Maybe Center Court will be finshed and we can get on there to hit. It's nice to hit on the court you're going to play on if there is a chance to do it.
Well, I best be off and get myself organized.
Chat to you tomorrow,
Sam

Hi girls and guys,
Today was a very full day. It started out a little slow due to the annoying drizzly rain that was falling in the morning but it cleared up so Lisa and I could practice at around noon. We got in a good warm-up and were feeling good before the match. We were the second match on. Once we finished hitting, I grabbed a quick bite to eat at lunch, some pasta and chicken.
The match before us didn't go too long so it was good to get on court after not having to wait for a long match. We played well today and won, 62 62; it was a good start to the tournament so hopefully we keep up the good form. After the match I went to the gym, did a bit of running on the treadmill while watching my favorite television show, Law & Order. I didn't get to see the whole episode because I didn't run for an hour but I'm sure it will be on repeat on one of the millions channels they have on TV here!
Tonight once again Lisa and I went for dinner, this time to Encinitas, an area near the resort where we are playing, for Thai. I love Thai food. It would definitely be one of my favorite cuisines. It was great food; the only disappointing thing was that they didn't have any mango with sticky rice for dessert :( I was quite upset!
Tomorrow we play the second night match so it'll be a long day. We'll get in a bit of practice in the morning then just chill out and get ready for when we play.
I'm off to bed now but will be staying up to watch Family Guy. It always makes me laugh :)
Talk to you tomorrow,
Sam

Hi again,
I woke up and started my day with a quick drive down to Starbucks to have my usual caramel macchiato and as always, it was delicious! After sipping every last drop out of the cup, I got ready for my first practice of the day. It was a short 45-minute session and it was good to get it done before the day really heated up.
After I hit, I went and had my daily physio visit, then had lunch with Fabrice and Lyn from the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
Since then I have just been hanging out in my room, resting and installing things on my new computer. I did manage to get a little sidetracked and downloaded some songs from iTunes. I kept searching for songs and adding them to the playlist. I know, not the most important thing to do but now I can jig along to my favourite songs while I do my work.
Well, I'm off to the courts again to have another little hit before getting ready for my match tonight.
Guess I'll tell you all about it tomorrow. Hope it goes well for me!

Hi everyone,
Today was a pretty quiet day. I practiced early and went to the gym straight afterwards; that meant I had finished all my tennis commitments by noon, so I had plenty of time to do other things with my day.
As I said in yesterday's entry, I was hoping to get to the driving range, but that didn't happen. That was lucky as that meant all the golfers out there were safe from my not-so-cleanly-hit golf shots! It was really hot today so I thought instead of doing that I would go to the pool to cool off. I think it was a good decision. The pool was awesome and definitely the best place to be.
I have been thinking about getting a new laptop so seeing as I had the afternoon off there was no better time to go get one. I set out with a mission to get one so I'm very happy that I found one that I liked. Now I can stay connected all the time no matter where I am.
Tonight I'm going out for dinner with Lisa Raymond. I think we are going for Mexican. I usually end up ordering the wrong thing and want what the people I'm with are eating. Hopefully tonight I don't have Order Envy!
Wish me luck and talk to you tomorrow,
Sam
