BANGKOK, Thailand - It has been a breakthrough last 12 months for Vania King. At the ptt Bangkok Open a year ago she won her maiden Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title, and since then has cracked the Top 50 (last November) and had her first victory over a Top 20 player (over Marion Bartoli a few weeks ago). This week she makes her return to the Thai capital as the defending champion in both singles and doubles and will also bring us the latest player blog.

Well today certainly was an interesting day - not as long as it could have been!! We resumed our first round match at 8-9 in the first set tie-break and I lost the point to make it the first set. I kind of don't remember what happened actually, except I do remember the tie-breaks of the second set and third set. I think the score ended up being 67(8) 76(7) 76(4), but I don't actually remember -_- (my memory is really bad). Oh! I do remember though, being up 5-4 in the third and I lost that game but for some reason, and I thought it was 4-3 (or I forgot the score entirely) and I had a match point, and after that game I kept thinking I had a match point and I didn't even realize it!! Well, it could have gone either way because we both had points for the first, second, and third set.
Anyways, during last night's match, I hurt my back a little bit, but thought I was okay because I had similar pain two weeks ago and it went away quickly. But during today's match, my back just hurt worse and worse, and I wasn't sure if I could even finish. Did I mention that we played an hour and a half yesterday for the first set and then three hours today to finish the second two sets?? Well that being said, my back was in so much pain that I wasn't sure if I would be able to even finish my singles, let alone my doubles, so I pulled out of both. It is not worth it to aggravate this kind of injury (especially in the back), though I am really disappointed that I couldn't play further as I did so well last year. It's okay though, even if my ranking plummets, because I felt like I was playing well and if I keep it up and keep trying to improve I will be AOK. :D
I'm kind of sad because I will be leaving the tennis world for a bit (except for the last tournament, but many people are not going there) for the off season, but I'm sure I'll change my mind when I'm home and not want to go back! Bwaha ;D No, no, I do try to keep up with my tennis friends and we chat a bit while not at the same tournaments. It's tough because tennis is a singular sport and everyone is competing against everyone. I would say that I am aquainted to most players, and have a couple good friends, including the Chinese and Taiwanese girls. Don't know if they would say the same! Haha! So, I must bid you all adieu and many thanks for the friend requests :D and reading my humble blog. Like I said, I'm not sure really how to blog so I hope you guys liked it. I'll be heading home now and probably playing Quebec City as my last tournament of the year provided I am healthy, and then some much needed rest! Just thinking about home makes me giddy. Haha!
Thanks again for reading, and hopefully I will see you in the future!!

Hey everyone!! (I forgot how I started the blogs from the previous days so sorry if they are all the same) It's really late right now because we got rained out in the middle of my singles - down 9-8 in the first set tie-break. If you're wondering why we didn't try to finish, we did, at 7-7, but played a couple more points in the rain and then it became too slippery. Anyways, I'm really quite tired now since it is about half past midnight (we didn't get back until 11:30pm) so I will make this short. Sorry! So tomorrow we are going to start at 3pm as the first match and if I win, I will play singles again, and then doubles. I'm so lucky - I get my name on the schedule of play three times! Bwaha!
Hopefully the weather forecast for tomorrow is for sun - but cool sun!! Not the extremely hot, humid sun we have been having. You would think after rain there would be a cooler period, but if anything, it gets hotter -_-
I started out my Asia trip in Kolkata, India, where I thought would be really hot, but we played indoors and they turned up the AC full blast so it was freezing inside. Then I went to Guangzhou, China, where the weather is a bit like here - really, really hot and humid. And then I went to Tokyo where it is always cooler, if not freezing. So my body has been subjected to some extremely varying conditions. And coming out not so fresh! :D
I have to go now - I'm getting really sleepy and I need to prepare for a long day tomorrow. Zai jian!! (ugh... horrible pinyin, the one year of Chinese class as a freshman didn't help)

Not so long of a day today since I played my first singles match (though it was at 3pm and I played two and a half hours, so we ended up getting back at 8:30pm). I play singles again tomorrow but it's the third match, so I have some time to rest. I forgot to mention yesterday that one of the other things I do when I am relaxing to entertain myself is watch anime - or Japanese animation. I really have watched a lot of anime. Right now my computer has 45GB of anime, but that is only about a quarter of my collection, and I have watched a lot of anime online (like through youtube).
Anyways, back to my match - it was quite long and tough, and I was feeling quite sick! I guess I'm not so used to the extreme humidity as I was hoping I would be. It's also been a long three and a half weeks, and though I am happy to make finals of doubles every week, it is tiring! So I guess I had some luck on my side again today. I am actually presently enjoying a meal of he fun, or chow fun - flat noodles in Chinese brown sauce - and it is soooo good!! Yeah, it is room service. I am really quite lazy off court so I do have a lot of room service. Because my favorite food is Chinese, I am often eating it, and almost never other foods. Yes, I am a bit picky. Or lazy. Or both :D Actually, the Chinese team call me (sorry my Pinyin is horrible) muo-muo, which is a nickname for a nun, because I am so slow. It was Tian-Tian who coined the term. Hmph. And now even Chia-Jung is picking up on it. It's okay though, because with Chia-Jung I have a nickname for her (which I started last week) - tso-tso or shang-shang. Tso is stinky and shang is clean. Last week she had some severe toothache problems and was using a Japanese medicine that she put on her tooth which smelled sooo bad. So if she called me muo-muo, I would call her tso-tso to get her back. Muaha.
I'm not sure if blogs are supposed to be like this, really random, but that is kind of like me... I get distracted a lot and can get way off topic. But I want to be real, and this is all exactly what I would be saying!! :D
Well I do have to go now (still have to take my bath :D) and then go to bed to rest up for tomorrow!!
See you!!
