Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I lost my match tonight. I could not play my best tennis, I made many mistakes on important points... it's really too bad because I was really enjoying it here. They treated me very well and I had the desire to continue. I'm sad because I could not win and the people were supporting me all time.
I'll talk to you all again soon, thank you for reading :)

It's been a long time since I spoke to you all, and I'm looking forward to catching up with you this week :)
An interesting thing happened on the way to Monterrey... I was supposed to arrive here on Friday, but my flight from Sarasota got cancelled and I couldn't make my connection. There was no other flight to Monterrey that day, so I went back home! There was a flight leaving at the same time to Atlanta on Saturday but it got cancelled again! The plane was broken or something. I thought I would never get to Monterrey! Finally I found another flight that got me to Atlanta just in time to get the connection, and I got here on Saturday evening.
Two days in a row that a flight gets cancelled? It was so strange. We went all the way back home with our bags. I didn't even touch them! What can you do though? So many things happen when you travel so you just have to do the best you can. The most important thing is you arrive :)
It's my first time in Monterrey. I've been to other cities in Mexico, but never here. The people are so friendly here. I feel like I've known everyone for many years. They treat me so well. The facilities and hotel are great and I have everything I need. The fans are amazing, too: so many people have been coming to watch me practice, it's almost like I'm playing a match! It's a great tournament, the organizers have done a great job, and I'm hoping to play some good tennis and get some matches in. It's a great opportunity for me here in Monterrey.
I also celebrated my birthday here yesterday... the funny part is I received three cakes. Everywhere I went I got a cake! People were singing to me everywhere too: fans, the press room... It seemed like the whole city knew it was my birthday, and I don't know how or from who, because I never told anyone!! In the evening we had a really nice dinner in the hotel. They had traditional Mexican performers, including Mariachis who called me up to the podium and sang to me in front of everybody. It was so embarrassing! They brought me a cake too.
I don't remember the last time I had a birthday at home. I don't know when that will be. Of course it's nice to spend it with your family and friends, but it was a lot of fun here as well. And I'm here with my dad so I do have family here (my mom will join us at Indian Wells next week).
Have a good night and talk to you all tomorrow!
JJ ♥
