BAD GASTEIN, Austria - One year ago, a hard-hitting young German came into Bad Gastein ranked No.98 in the world but battled her way to her first title. Now Andrea Petkovic is the No.1 seed in Bad Gastein - who better to write the first blog of the summer season than the tournament favorite herself?

Did you know that some of my friends call me clumsy, awkward or bizzare? Or all of the above? Probably not unless you are one of my really close friends - one of the two that I have. I often ask myself what did I do to deserve that (then I sit down and cry for hours) but most of the time I have to admit they are right. Since I arrived in Bad Gastein - I've been here for three days now for those who are not stalking me - I already broke one toe, my left knee and got myself a brain concussion. Some of my friends may point out that the thing with the brain is there since I was born but that's another story.

So for those of you who are not my friends, not yet at least, I am kind of a morning grouch, which leads to massive injury danger, not only for me but for everybody who is accidentally near me. So two days ago when I woke up and figured I could walk out on the balcony to check the weather with no shoes on, I ran against a stone full power and, well, I broke my toe. Almost at least. Reliable as I am I iced it immediatly until it turned blue then I found out I had been icing the wrong toe. You can imagine how strong the pain must have been - don't you dare call me a wuss! Although I did burst into tears when I hit my knee against the bed pole later that day - hey, it really hurt!

The brain concussion thing is not that big of a story anymore. I just hit my head against the trunk of my car while taking out my tennis bag. So I felt nothing but malicious joy when Anna-Lena Grönefeld, who I warmed up with before my match, hit Mariana Duque Marino's coach, well, let's say in the worst possible place on a man's body. No, I really wasn't happy about it. My injuries at least are not threatening to my family plans whatsoever. Not yet.

Let's hope it stays that way.
