Hi everyone :)

I just came from my match against Nadia Petrova. We just played in Indian Wells - it was a hot day there and it was hot here, too. I won the first set today but she was up 4-1 in the second set. She was playing really well but I just kept fighting. I came back to 5-4 and I think I had four match points in that game, but they were on her serve! And she has such a big serve. On one of them she hit a big serve that hit the line and jumped so high off the court, then I missed some returns... I was getting tight, I think. It was hard to win that match but I just started fighting hard again and won the third set, 6-2. I'm really happy to win.

I can't say I'm playing perfectly, but I'm trying really hard. I think it's the same for everyone these days because these are the first clay court tournaments of the year. You start getting used to it after two or three matches...

We also had our first doubles match of the week yesterday. I'm playing with Zheng Jie. It's the first time we've played in a while and we're just getting used to it - she's a very good player! We lost the first three games of our match but I think it was a little bit of bad luck because we were so close in the games and it was no-ad... anyway we came from 0-3 to 2-3 when our opponent, Vania King, had to retire because of a blister on her foot. Vania, I hope it gets better soon :)

It's about 3:30pm now... I'll go have lunch then see the trainer for my knee and back - my knee has a little bit of pain, not too bad, but I want to get it looked at. Then dinner, then rest! Thank you and talk to you all tomorrow!

How much have you trained in the US? James, USA
I trained in the US in 2004 and 2005 mostly. I would stay in Florida a lot. Other than China, I think US is probably the country I know the most around the world. Like whenever people talk about Cheesecake Factory, I know what it is - it's my favorite :) And I love shopping - my favorite store is Juicy. When my coach asked me where I wanted to stay in Miami I knew exactly which road. So I kind of know about some of the culture... I really like it here!
