Hey everyone!!!
I am going to sum up today in one word: LONG!!! Bob and I were scheduled fifth match on Court 7. The second match on our court was a men's doubles and they went the distance... The match in front of us was a nail-biter of a men's singles and they may still be playing! At 8pm we got moved onto Court 4. When we started, I could count the number of fans in the stands on my two hands. When we finished, the stands were packed! The night time atmosphere at the US Open is something you don't experience anywhere else! Lots and lots of lights, rowdy people and packed stands on the outside courts!
Bob and I had a tough match. In mixed doubles it's about hitting as many balls as you can to the girl, it's about holding serve (and trying to break) and I need to be ready for balls getting whacked at me! It is a lot of fun, but nerve wrecking at the same time. I do have the best partner, but I do put pressure on myself to do my part. Tonight I did just that. Basically I tried not to mess things up :-) We won, 75 64, against Rodionova/Kas.
I usually shower, get treatment, etc. at the courts after the match. Tonight I just needed to get out of there. We had left the apartment at 11am and when we finished our match it was already 9pm! My mom made pasta and salad. I am showered, in my pajamas and ready for bed. Lisa and I play third match tomorrow and my transport pick-up is at 9:15am!
Sorry for the short blog. My brain is fried. Today felt very long...
I have to go and check my laundry that is in the machine... I am obsessed with puzzles and laundry...
Night night,
xoxoxo
