Hey everyone!
Isn't it true that the more you do, the more you can do... and the less you do, the less you want to do... well, that's me today! I didn't start out that way, I am just ending my day like that! We left the apartment at 8:45am and jumped on the court when we got on-site. Court time is precious and we made the most of it. We had a good warm-up and then we did a few drills. Tony fed us, with Lisa at the back and me at the net and vice versa. The baseliner got to work on being pinpoint accurate and the net player worked on being ready for these though balls and putting it away at a specific target. I love it, because it takes a lot of concentration! I love it when I feel like I am being productive and learning something new. I guess that is why I am still playing at age 35. I have lots still to learn!!! We ended the practice with serving and returning. We played the points out and kept score. I love that too, because I am very competitive. I am sure that you already knew that :-) I forgot to mention, Lisa brought a ball-picker-upper with her... Thanks JB!
Today is Labor Day. Huber Tennis Ranch was closed today, as were the banks, post offices and most businesses. Yesterday I had mentioned that I have some work to do, but I ended up doing very little work. I didn't slack completely. After practice I visited Smash Zone. I had the best time! I got to play on quick-start courts with foam balls against kids 10 and under. I worked up a sweat and got beat by a few awesome little players! I stayed for a while, giving some advice, signing autographs and taking some pictures. I want to congratulate the USTA for the great 10 and under initiative! I wish I was 10 years old again!

The weather forecast for tomorrow is not promising. We are scheduled third match after 11am. You know me by now, I am prepared. I am taking my iPod, computer, book and anything really I can find here to keep me busy while we are waiting... Maybe the US Open will be the next Grand Slam to get an indoor court :-) Hurricane Irene just brushed us slightly and maybe the rain will miss us too. Fingers crossed. My husband says that we should go early to the courts to secure a good seat in the players' lounge. Now that I think of it, I should take snacks with me too. Every player gets a meal allowance of $35 on your credential. Years back we didn't have this technology and had to collect paper tickets for lunch. Now it is easy, you get your food and the cashier just scans your credential. They give you a receipt, so you can see what your remaining balance is. I want to say that the selection of food is very good. I have freshly made sushi every day. There is a pasta station and the chef will make you your pasta of choice, sauce of choice and ingredients of choice. There's a baked potato station. A sandwich station, where you can order any sandwich you want. There is also an anti-pasta bar, a salad bar and a carvery station. Best of all, there is a pizza station too and a smoothie bar. I look at everything of course, I smell everything of course BUT I stick to my sushi. It works for me; it is healthy and fills me enough for my match.
Guess what? We finished the puzzle! That was puzzle number 2! It was a difficult one for sure, but a lot of fun. I took a couple of pictures and now we are breaking it up this very second. On to puzzle number 3!!! Puzzles are like triathlons... once you do your first one, you are addicted! I did my first sprint triathlon a couple of years ago and have been hooked ever since. I got Tony into puzzles, maybe I can get him into triathlons! Ha ha ha! I will keep you posted :-)

My dad was the chef tonight and made roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots, green beans and salad. No ice cream for me thanks. I am in training! I told you, I had a pretty lazy day. My laundry is done and now watching the Kuznetsova/Wozniacki match. The first set was very close. It is very interesting to watch because there is such a contrast in style. Both players are on top form. It's great to watch! Federer is up next... what a great way to end a lovely Labor Day weekend!
Night night,
xoxoxo
