BALI, Indonesia - Not only did she win two International-level titles this year in Birmingham and Dallas, she broke into the Top 20 for the first time. With little to defend until the clay court season it seems the sky is the limit for Sabine Lisicki, and the young German is one of the favorites for the Commonwealth Bank Tournament Of Champions in beautiful Bali this week. Hi everybody,
It was a pretty relaxing day in Bali today. I practiced and went to the gym, and I also had the All-Access Hour. Other than that there wasn't much happening!
I thought I'd tell you a little more about the tournament today. Two years ago I was here for the first time and really enjoyed myself. There's one big change since then: the court was very fast before, but this year's it's very slow. We have that kind of surface at other tournaments, so everybody's familiar with it, and it's a good change. The only difference to all the other tournaments is that we only have a singles court! The court seems to be smaller even though it (of course) is not... :)
Also, the people here are very friendly. It's such a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere, which is nice to have at the end of the year. I had a great year and I want to finish it strong - I'm definitely looking forward to playing, and we'll see how everything goes.
I thought I would also check out some of your questions... have a good night!
Sabine
What has been your most memorable match of 2011? Felipe, Belgium
Playing Li Na in the second round at Wimbledon with the closed roof, the crowd cheering for me, saving two match points and winning 8:6 in the third was just amazing!
How many racquets, outfits and shoes to you go through in a year? Sasko, Macedonia
Puh, I don't know how many I go through in a year... I never counted :)
What are you planning on doing in the off-season? Riccardo, Italy
I haven't really made plans yet. I still have to do a couple of things for my sponsors. Then I'll probably do whatever I feel like. I'm for sure going to spend a lot of time with friends. I don't see them too often so I'm looking forward to that! I really want to go to the theatre or opera too... :)
Do you plan on continuing to play doubles with Sam in 2012? Victor
Yes, we are planning on playing doubles together. We have a lot of fun together on the court! :)
What are your goals for 2012? Alexei, Australia
To keep improving bit by bit. My next goal is to be Top 16 seed at the Grand Slams and then we go from there!
Aside from your love for tennis, what motivates you? Cristy, Australia
To play in front of a packed stadium and having my fans cheer for me! I missed that so much while I was injured last year...
What do you consider your biggest strengths on the court? Navin, India
My fighting spirit and to never give up no matter what happens. But at the same time enjoying myself out there!
