BALI, Indonesia - Not only did she win two International-level titles this year in Birmingham and Dallas, she broke into the Top 20 for the first time. With little to defend until the clay court season it seems the sky is the limit for Sabine Lisicki, and the young German is one of the favorites for the Commonwealth Bank Tournament Of Champions in beautiful Bali this week. Hi everybody!
It's been a pretty fun day. I had practice and a workout in the gym. I'm feeling good on the court and I'm definitely looking forward to my first match tomorrow night!
You are probably wondering why we are playing indoors while having 30 degrees Celsius outside and sunshine at the moment... but the fact is that it's the rainy season. Every morning around 8am it pours like it's out of buckets for one hour, then the Sun comes up. I've been talking to some locals here and they told me during the rainy season it can rain all day long, so that's the reason why we play indoors...
The fun part of the day was the filming for a travel show. We were filming at the beach and it was really windy... While we were filming someone else had to hold a pillow to cover the microphone so that you can hear me later on in the video! There were many funny moments! Robin (who films it) always puts the most difficult lines for me to say together. He simply wants to make sure that he has plenty of bloopers of me so you have a lot to laugh about...! Someday I will pay him back! :D
Apart from that, I have to add the food has been really good here. I feel ready to go for tomorrow. I hope you are too and will come out and support me! :))
Have a good night :)
Sabine
What is the funniest or strangest thing that has happened to you in a match? Paul, USA
There were a couple of funny moments at the Hopman Cup... I hit my partner in mixed doubles - even though it was just the racquet I hit, it was still embarrassing for me.
What is more important to you - winning a Grand Slam or getting No.1? Edvard, Armenia
That's tough to say. My dream is to achieve both! But I think winning a Grand Slam is unbelievably special. When you hold up a trophy in front of the crowd it's an amazing feeling. Nothing can beat that!
What clicked during the grass court season this year? Muhammad
I simply love playing on grass. I missed it a lot when I was injured last year and couldn't come back to Wimbledon after playing the quarters there. I simply enjoyed every single moment in England this year! :)
What are your first memories of playing tennis as a kid? Shane, USA
I was playing tennis for fun and at some point I started playing tournaments. I would count my dad's trophies and mine and I was super proud when I finally had more than him!!
