TORONTO, Canada - With her classic game she has been carving her way up the rankings all year, currently on the verge of the world's Top 20. But who is Roberta Vinci? Crack the code this week in the Italian's very first WTA Blog...

Hi guys, and welcome to my blog for the WTA site!! I'll be the one writing to you this week from Toronto... hopefully it's interesting :-)

I arrived from Carlsbad on Sunday morning after a long flight. Luckily I wasn't alone, because Sara (Errani) and her brother, Davide, were with me, I don't like to travel alone! My coach was at home with his family in Palermo last week, but he came up later on Sunday. Anyway, our first flight was from Carlsbad to LA (just 25 minutes with a small plane... I've never taken a flight so short) and then we took another one from Los Angeles to Toronto (four and a half hours). I was so tired afterwards and thankfully my first matches weren't on Monday :)

Today after a good breakfast I practiced for an hour with my coach. We only did an hour because it was so hot and humid. Then after a light workout me and my coach decided I should rest for the afternoon. That included a one hour massage with my physiotherapist as well as watching a movie on my computer back at the hotel room, an Italian movie - a romance. I love those kinds of movies :) I also listened to music, chatted online... basically nothing to do with tennis!

It's going to be a long day tomorrow, singles and doubles too. In singles I'm playing Yanina Wickmayer, which will be a very tough match - the last time I played her was in the Netherlands on grass, and I won in two sets, but I think she plays better on hardcourt. Then later I play doubles with Sara against Mirza and Vesnina. They are a very good team and have won many tournaments together this year, but Sara and I made the semifinals in San Diego last week and beat Huber and Raymond in the first round, too... we lost to Srebotnik and Peschke but I think we're a good team too ;-) We hope to do well tomorrow.

Now I've got to go to dinner. I'm meeting my coach Francesco, Sara and her brother in the lobby and we're going to a restaurant. It would be nice to eat some Italian pasta with tomato but here in Canada it's very hard to find :-(

Thanks for reading and I'll see you all tomorrow. Please cheer for me! And please send me some questions too!!

Good night,

Robi
