My best friends!

Hey everyone!

Well, the count down has begun! We now when we will be going home :-) When you come into a tournament, you book your hotel for the maximum nights, you book your flight for after the finals and you hope you don't have to change either. It's a bit risky when you rent an apartment like we did and as we do at all two week tournaments. You could go out early (and that has happened) and then it's just bad luck if you want to go home or to the next tournament. You don't get your money back. The owner of the house we rent in Miami just e-mailed me this week to see if we will be renting the house again during the tournament in Key Biscayne. I don't even know what I am doing this week, let alone in six months time :-) I am very organized and considering a different option in Miami next year. I am thinking that we should drive our motor-home there and find a nice RV park. I haven't been successful in finding one in Miami. The nearest is 30 miles away. I am going to have to so some more research. Okay, I am getting sidetracked... back to today and us going home on Monday! I am so excited to be going home. I will get back to that, let me tell you about our match today...

As you know, Lisa and I started playing together in Charleston this year. We had a rough start on the clay and many first round losses. We kept working hard and trying our best, but it wasn't until the French Open that we started having results. The grass season was okay, although I think our expectations were higher. We knew we still had a lot of work to be done. The US Summer circuit has been a challenge too, because there are so many events back to back. We made finals in Stanford, won Toronto and decided to practice the week before the US Open. Lisa and I have had our ups and downs during our run here, but we try and keep the downs very short. It's not been perfect, but look where we are! We are in the finals! All the hard work over the past few months and the hard lessons we have learned, has been so worth it. Today we had another good match. We beat Hantuchova and Radwanska, 62 64. Sunday will be our last match. The best match of all I hope. The trophy round and that's what we play for! My husband told me that this is my fourth US Open final in a row, with three different partners. Gosh, a dream come true!

Back to going home... I can't wait to get on the plane. I can't wait for the plane to land. I can't wait to pull into our driveway... I dream of my own bed. I dream of unpacking my suitcase and wearing clothes from my closet. I dream about Mexican food... I know my puppies are going to be so excited to see me. The are going to cry and howl and bark all at once. They are my babies (even my 185-pound English Mastiff!) I am looking forward to getting lots done. It is going to be a bit hectic, because we are only home for the week. We filed extensions for our tax returns and that will be completed this coming week. I have three appointments on Tuesday, the first at 9am, then 11am and last one at 2pm. It's my mother-in-law's birthday, so we will go to celebrate with grandma and my parents. We have entered for a fun run/walk next Saturday to benefit I will be a couple of days on court at Huber Tennis Ranch. My to-do list is growing... There is just a ton to do in a week (we did buy that investment property 10 days ago and it needs to be renovated), but I always take it in stride and will get it all done before we head to Tokyo. I love Tokyo, so that's also something to look forward to! I always remind myself that I am only young once, so why sit still?!

I took pictures for you of the famous washer/dryer (my best friends). I also gave you a look inside our very spacious New York apartment. I hear my bed calling me... We are practicing early, because early birds catch the worms :-)

The apartment...

More of the apartment...
