Hey everyone! This is Vania... I just came back from a quick photo shoot with Slava where we were dressed by a famous Turkish designer, Cemil Ipekci. The dresses we had originally chosen did not fit us (mine was too large, Slava's was too small) so I ended up wearing Slava's dress, and she settled on another design -- a strapless jumpsuit with a cropped hooded cardigan. I thought we looked great, myself like a flamenco dancer and Slava like a boxer -- a good looking boxer! When she had the hood on, she reminded me of Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby. They even let us keep our outfits, which was terribly nice of them, although I may have to shed a few pounds if I want to wear it for longer periods of time. We posed for some photos outside with a beautiful backdrop next to the marina overlooking the water.
Slava: I was looking for a boxing sparring partner but Vania wasn't dressed right for it! ;) I really liked that dress a lot... but it looked good on you too! I think we were meant to be outside for the photo shoot a bit longer but it was cold and super windy so they just took two shots and we came back inside.
Vania: Afterwards, we had a little present for one of the video guys from the DDF shoot. When we shot the filming at the Blue Mosque, I noticed he had a scar on his forehead that looked like the shape of a lightning bolt. I told him he looked like Harry Potter and when I asked how he got it, Slava said he got attacked by Lord Voldemort. He played on with it and we had a good laugh about it (we had a lot of laughs on that trip!) so Slava went to the kid's shop and bought a pair of plastic glasses with a mustache and eyebrows. She removed the brows and mustache and taped the nose bridge (to repair his broken glasses) and we hunted down an object we could pass as a wand. After dismissing several ideas, we decided on a breadstick. We tried to find the video guy in the evening yesterday (Slava actually went all the way back to the hotel to get the glasses) but he was MIA yesterday so we gave him the gift today. Slava broke two breadsticks and two were eaten by an unknown culprit so I had to run back and get more before we finally were able to present him with his gift.
Slava: It was funny! I put the photos on Facebook and Wwitter and my website so you can see our friend Harry if you want to.
Vania: Oh, I forgot to talk about our practice -- well it was same old really -- we played points with the sparring partners for 45 minutes and afterwards Slava did some drills while I hit a few more serves. The reason I forgot about our practice was because it was at 9am again, and I was basically asleep throughout the whole time. Or it felt like it!
Slava: It was a very early practice again like the photo shows! :) But I found a new Turkish pet, Fluffy! I'm not sure if he's a dog or a rabbit really, maybe more a rabbit with the red eyes. But he lives in the umpire's chair on center court and listens to the screaming all day so maybe that's why his eyes become red! :D
Vania: After practice we came back to the hotel and I collapsed for an almost three hour nap! I also spent some time catching up on Russell Peters' stand-up comedy, one of my favorite things to do when I'm in my room... he's so funny!
Slava: My parents arrived this evening with some family friends so I was very happy to see them. The friends' bag got lost and they arrived only with a duty free shopping bag so I think they will be in a shopping mood like me this weekend! Tomorrrow I think we will have to take a family reunion photo of me and Vania with our parents!
Good night everybody!
