Hi everyone! It's Slava here for our last blog from Istanbul...
It was a close match today and we played well but Kveta and Kata were just a little bit better in the end. I really like how the tournament did the introductions when we walked on court. It was an incredible show with videos and photos and lights and music. It was dark with just lights on us as we walked out holding hands with the ballkids. I had goosebumps! The atmosphere was very good today... it was a big crowd like every day but because it is Republic Day here everyone was wearing t-shirts and waving flags. Oh and of course Fluffy was there watching the match too! ;)
Vania: Yes, the intros and atmosphere were really nice. We had lunch after the match and celebrated the good year we've had. My dad has adopted Slava's friends' daughter. He was taking her to get food and giving her drinks and teaching her how to use chopsticks.
Slava: After lunch I came back to the hotel and I've just been in my room talking to my mom about everything. We don't have the chance to just sit and talk often so it's been very nice today. I have to leave early tomorrow morning to fly to Taiwan for my last tournament, but I've already booked a city tour and a shopping tour for my parents and our friends so they will have lots of fun in Istanbul tomorrow, but unfortunately without me! :(
Vania: My parents went to do some shopping today and bought a Turkish rug. They haggled it down $50!
Slava: Oh, tell them about the locker room fun we had!
Vania: Well hopefully the photos will explain it! In the locker room we have assigned lockers with our names on them so we pretended they were our fairytale houses and we crept out like the elves in that shoemaker fairytale.
Slava: It has been a great week in Istanbul. I really like it here and it's a very good tournament. I definitely hope to be back next year! Thank you to everyone at the tournament!
Vania: Yes, the tournament has been great! We loved the personal drivers and the really nice gifts we got every day too. Thanks for everything!
Slava: And we also want to say thanks to our parents... we are here because of them and now they are here because of us! :)
We hope you had fun with us this week... thanks for reading.
