Rain in DC! After a number of days of heat and humidity, it rained! The matches here in DC start at 4pm and wouldn't you know it, it rained right around 3pm. The good thing is, it's cooled off, but the bad thing is my match tonight started around 9pm. After three long sets, I was able to advance. Michelle Larcher de Brito played really well tonight. I had a tough second set but I'm happy with the way I finished my match. After my match, I headed out to catch a few points of Sam Querrey's first round on center court. It's really cool to have a joint event here in DC and to be able to watch the men play. Combined events are great fun for the players and the fans!
Late match means late dinner - I'm finally getting to have a bite right now (12:15am). Of course, I'm catching up on my Olympics re-broadcast right now as well. Way to go US Olympic Gymnasts! I saw a few rotations while I was getting ready for my match but I tried not to google the result because I wanted to have something to look forward to tonight. GOLD!!!!! Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to watch some live Olympic action :-)
Have I mentioned how amazing the FANS are in Washington, DC? The fans here are incredible, I just love them!
Sorry to cut it short but it's late and I'm am very sleepy. I've got doubles tomorrow night, fourth match after 4pm, no singles. I'll have a light hit before my match and get out there with Anna to compete. Night night everyone!
