PUNE, India - Don't let her current ranking fool you - Andrea Petkovic is a top player, through and through. In the Top 10 to start the year, she was struck with two major injuries that kept her out most of the season - but now she's healthy, reached the semifinals of her last event in Luxembourg, and has come to the new WTA $125 tournament in Pune hoping to gather even more steam.
The German star is also bringing us the latest WTA Blog this week. Read on!

Hello from India everyone!
This is my first time in India and I'm very impressed with how friendly the people are. Everybody's treating me really nicely and I feel very welcome here. And travelling here was fine - the flight was long but great, and I watched The Dark Knight Rises from the Batman trilogy, which was obviously really good.
I love the food here in India, too. In Darmstadt, my hometown where I live, my favorite restaurant is an Indian restaurant, so I was really excited to see the difference between German-Indian and Indian-Indian food - and it's a little more spicy here, but I still love it - I like spicy. So the food is just great.
And the player party was really impressive last night! Normally at player parties at other tournaments there's not a lot of dancing going on, but Indians really like singing and dancing, and the Indian girls immediately cracked the dance floor and pulled me on there too, so I had to dance a little bit, and my coach did too - it was fun! It was a really nice setting, directly by the pool, and the weather here is very good, not so humid but always warm. I had a great time.
I loved the opening ceremony tonight too. I really loved the traditional dances, and also the dubstep laser thing that was going on! I went to a couple of dubstep parties when I was back home injured with nothing to do, and it's always very interesting. I really appreciated the dubstep in India.
I never thought I would be listening to dubstep here!
I think the new WTA $125 series is a really good thing, especially for the up-and-coming players who want to establish themselves on the WTA, but also for comeback players like me. I'm really happy to have an opportunity to keep playing at the end of the season, and I'm hoping to get some matches this week and try to get back into the match routine, because even though I'm fine in practice, I still lose my rhythm in matches sometimes. I feel my game is coming back, but it takes time - there are certain details that aren't working out as I would like them to. But I'm very happy to be back playing again.
The good thing about an injury, though, is that I really appreciate everything much more now - I appreciate being on the court, I even appreciate losing, yes even losing! I'm still definitely upset if I lose, but I'm thankful to just be out there playing tennis and competing with the other girls, it's just a great feeling. I just hope in the coming years I can stay healthy and injury-free...
Anyway, I want to finish by saying they really have great organization here in Pune - they've put so much effort into everything and are trying to make it as perfect as possible, and I really hope they keep their goal of making this into a Premier event. I would love that. I would definitely come back here.
