Hello and Happy New Year from Sydney! Well, 2012 was really good for me in the end. I struggled with injuries the first six months, but then I played a good grass court season and played a couple of good tournaments on hardcourts, too. I was happy to finish the season in a healthy way. I'm coming off a good off-season and looking forward to putting everything I've been working on into my matches now.

For the first time in the last seven years I actually went on holidays! I went to the Maldives for two weeks with my mom, for some girls' time. We had planned it for a long time. We had bad weather there, a lot of rain, but it was a beautiful place anyway. And then it was back to training for five weeks in Delray Beach and I stayed at my apartment, so it felt like home. My fitness trainer was there for a bit and my coach and hitting partner came too, so we had a chance to do some good work for a few weeks... We were working on everything, so we'll see how everything goes now in my matches!

I got to go home to Austria for Christmas for two days. It was actually amazing for me, because I came from hot conditions, and it was almost 20 degrees with sunshine - in the mountains, in Austria! So it was kind of weird, it felt like I was in Florida... but for my health it was probably a good thing :)

We flew to Australia on the 26th of December. My first tournament was Brisbane and I actually had a few good days of practice there before I started, and now I'm looking forward to playing here in Sydney too. Last year was my first year in Sydney and immediately it was one of my favorite places to be, besides Melbourne and New York. Everything's great here - I love the harbor, it's great for shopping, I saw the aquarium last year and am planning to go to the zoo this year if I have time... I just love it here!

Have a good day everyone and I'll talk to you all again tomorrow :)
