Today was a very nice day!
We were scheduled last match - we played around 5pm - so this morning there was no rush!
As I told you, this week I'm with my mum.. I always travel with one of my parents, I like it so much! They and my brother are the best support I could receive, so it means a lot to me to have them with me and share moments as much as possible. My dad travels with me more often because he's also my fitness coach - he was a professional handball player (goalkeeper) and since he stopped playing I wanted him to train me. He is the best for me - no one knows me better than my dad and he has a lot of knowledge about physical workouts. Before I started working with him I had a lot of injuries and since he has started taking care of me, I'm 100% healthy and improving more and more.. but this week my dad is actually staying at home. I wanted him to be with my brother Luka, because he had some important testing with football clubs! He's 16 and studies, but he is also a very talented football player and wants to become professional.
I'm also travelling sometimes with my mum! I like it as much as being with my dad, that's why I often switch from one to another! But with my mum it's obviously different - she is like a sister and a friend to me - we're talking about anything, a lot of girls stuff, like shopping together...
For example this morning, we tried to sleep longer - actually longer was 8am :) There's two hours of difference with Europe so all week we were waking up early! Anyway, we had breakfast then went to the beautiful spa in our hotel. We had a manicure and pedicure - the sort of things I would obviously not do with my dad :)
We went on site around 11. I wanted to do some specific exercises for clay, like sliding - it was great! Petra arrived and we had our match warm-up, but it was more like a little practice of an hour and 15 minutes! We're singles players and we're used to playing a lot so it's not a problem for us to have played longer during this warm-up. We took it as practice - we keep working towards the next tournaments. Anyway, with today's format doubles game, doubles cannot last longer than an hour and a half, so we weren't afraid to be tired!
Let's talk about our doubles semifinal now! We played less than an hour and played really well to defeat the pair of Savchuk/Scheepers 64 60. They are a great team and previously beat another great doubles team of Hantuchova/Medina Garrigues, so we produced some great tennis and applied our doubles tactics properly.
We are extremely happy being into the final tomorrow. It's our first one together.. so for sure it's gonna be special and we will remember it! For my part, I'm very excited for my sixth doubles title. It's just very awesome. We're facing Babos/Minella - I'm sure it's going to be a tough and nice final. We're really looking forward to it. It starts at 12:30 - let's gooo :)
It's already Saturday night. Finals Day is tomorrow, which means this is probably one of the last times I'm writing to you from Marrakech this week! Tomorrow after the final I have to catch my flight to go straight to Estoril.. that's my next tournament. But I will try to write to you one more time at night there to tell you about my day, and hopefully show you some nice pictures with trophies!
Anyway this week has been really nice to me! It was the first year for the tournament here in Marrakech and I think it was great. I'd like to thank and mention all the people who worked hard for this event. We could really feel like they were trying their best to take good care of us. I really enjoyed my stay here..
In case I cannot write tomorrow I wanted to tell you I was very happy to be blogging for you. I hope you liked it!
Warm hugs from Marrakech.
If you had to pick someone other than yourself, who do you think will become the first player from the 1993/1994 generation to win a Grand Slam? Othmane, Morocco
This is a really tough question! It's difficult for me to give a name! I think there are many great players from 1993/1994 and this is very exciting for the future! But I'm very bad at prognostics so it's better for me not to give my opinion :) I'm sure we all have great qualities to hopefully one day fight against each other for Grand Slam titles. But what is also for sure is that there is a long way to work for all of us to reach it.
Have you ever been to Rio de Janeiro and if yes, what did you think of it? Gil, Brazil
Yes I've already been in Rio when I played a juniors tournament and to be honest I fell in love with this city! I like it so much, this is my favourite city! When I knew they gave their proposal for getting the Olympics, I was praying so hard that Rio would host them. My dream is to go to Rio 2016 and win a medal :)
