So yesterday I told you we would go out to dinner to celebrate my first round victory and we did - we went to the Boston Steakhouse right nearby. I had chicken and salad - like I told you already, I'm trying to be really good this year :) My physio was the one who celebrated the victory for me...

My recovery from yesterday's long match went well. I've had matches like that before, so I pretty much know what to do to recover, and I did everything in my power to do it - stretching, bike, foam roller, massage, got a good meal, protein shake - so I'm feeling pretty good today. And of course, the fact that I don't have a match to play today is even better, especially because... it's my birthday today!!

What we're going to do to celebrate my birthday is still a bit of a mystery right now. We'll probably go out to dinner. I'm going to have to ask the concierge what the good restaurants are around here. But I've had some great birthday wishes today - a lot of people have been coming up to me and giving me hugs and saying happy birthday. It obviously feels special to be noticed! I've also gotten a lot of messages from my friends, on Facebook, family calling me - I actually missed a few calls while I was on the practice court, and some of them were asking me why I was practicing on my birthday!

About tomorrow - my next match is against Elena Baltacha. We've played each other a few times before but my coach will give me some tactics on how to play her. But as far as myself, I know how I'll be preparing for her - I'll try to impose my own game, stay focused, and just do what I do best.

We're just a few days away from Roland Garros - and I am looking forward to it so much. I really love the tournament, it's one of my favorites. When I was ranked lower, I would spend a lot of time there, longer than I was supposed to - not playing, but just watching matches. It's always a great feeling to be there, but especially when you're not just watching, you're actually playing the tournament.

Signing off from a rainy day in Brussels...
