What did I do today... well, I started with breakfast obviously, then I came over and did my warm-up, a good chat with my team and a good lunch, then got ready for my match. I was kind of lucky that I played my first match on Monday, so I didn't have to play two matches like a lot of the girls today.

My opponent today, Elena Baltacha, was in the same situation - she won her first match on Monday. So we both kind of had a day off yesterday. But I played really well today and executed my game plan really well. I did everything I needed to do today and I'm happy to be in the quarterfinals now.

After my match I had dinner here in the player lounge and some nice relaxation, and then now I'm writing to you guys, and then I'll just head back to the hotel for a nice early night :)

My next opponent is Kaia Kanepi. What can I say about her - she's a really good player. Hopefully I can just relax tonight, get a good night's sleep, and then I'll think about my strategies tomorrow!

I wanted to say something about Alisa Kleybanova as well today. I'm friends with her and I think she has an incredible story. I'm so happy she has recovered and is on her way back up. I wish her all the best, and I hope she stays healthy and happy. I hope to see you on the tour soon, Alisa :)

Now for some of your questions!

Talk to you tomorrow,

Hi V. What did you do to celebrate your birthday yesterday? Shari, USA
This is from my American mom! Hi Shari! Well, we went for a nice dinner. It was a very good dinner at the Boston restaurant right next to the hotel. It was probably the first time I've eaten so healthy on my birthday! Just a salad, chicken breast, water... I'm hoping to celebrate more when I go back home, though. It's tough to relax and have fun during the tournament. Hopefully something more fun!

What do you do or who do you talk to to keep things light and fun? Becky
I have a friend of mine here with me, she's going to stay with me throughout the French Open. Her name is Susan and she's also my physio. We laugh a lot and she's a very positive person. And my dad obviously blends in as well, so all three of us have a good time. And I have friends on the tour, so whenever any of us have free time, we try to spend that time together and just keep things fun.

Why do you think some of your best results have come on clay? Will, UK
I'm not really sure actually. Maybe because when I started to play tennis I started on clay, so I feel that surface so well whenever I step on it. It's just natural to me. So that's probably why it suits me very well, both mentally and physically. That's probably why I'm doing so well on it.
