Hello from Bad Gastein!

This is my first time doing the WTA Blog - actually this is my first time doing any blog - and I'm really excited to do it. It will be fun to talk to you all about the tournament and the other players and give the fans an opportunity to know a little bit more about me. I hope you all enjoy it this week :)

There have been a lot of changes for me in the last year. I've had a pretty fast development in my game and it's pretty exciting for me that I was playing juniors last year and now the main tour. This is actually my first tournament as a Top 50 player. I'm playing bigger tournaments, travelling more and playing tougher opponents - I hope I can keep developing, and I hope I can crash the Top 30 soon.

Bad Gastein is one of the most lovely places I've been to. The view out of my room is unbelievable. The facilities are unbelievable - you have a five star hotel and the club is right outside. You can also relax really well here - a pool, everything - and the people are so nice here too. I love it!

My first round opponent is Shahar Peer. I've never played her. It's tough for the first round - she's a really good player. It's also going to be tough because of the altitude here - the balls are flying far and you have to experiment with your strings, so you really have to find your rhythm. But it's tough for everyone, so I just have to try my best, play my game and we'll see how it goes out there.

I just had dinner. Soon I'm going back to get ready for tomorrow - pack my bag, prepare my racquets and all that, and then go to bed. Then hopefully a good warm-up in the morning before the match!

Thanks for reading tonight and I'll talk to you all again tomorrow!

Annika
