Hello everybody, I'm looking forward to blogging again for the WTA website :)

I'm in Toronto for the Rogers Cup right now. It's actually my first tournament in more than a month. After Wimbledon I went home for a week then took two weeks of holidays. We went to Turkey - Antalya, a beautiful city there. It was really nice to have a break after a tough first half of the year.

After that I went back home to Russia and was just practicing, and then last Wednesday we came to Toronto. I'm here with my dad. There are a lot of things I like about this tournament - I really like the stadium, the food is really good - which is really important for the players, and I like the hotel, too. I went to Niagara Falls a few years ago, which was great, but when you're playing and practicing so much you don't have much time to do things like that, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to go this year. But you can always have time to go to a restaurant or see a movie, so maybe I can do that.

But overall the most important thing is I feel really good and relaxed here - so I'm happy :)

This has been a big year for me, as I reached my goal to get to the Top 10. As you know I stopped focusing on doubles earlier this year - I had done everything I wanted to in doubles, so it was time to concentrate on singles, and recovery is very important for that, so it has really helped. Now my goal is to keep playing at the same level, and now I think my goal is to get to No.9 in the world, maybe!

Now I'm looking forward to the second half of the season, which for me starts here in Toronto!

Maria
