Tennis players must love to pack :)

After an intense week of training in Montréal, this morning was all about packing for Québec City! Those people who have to travel most weeks of their lives will understand this: packing every few weeks is not so great!! But this time, being able to jump in the car and travel to a local tournament is most definitely a nice change.

The car was packed tight, especially as coach Bruno and my fiance also needed a seat each!

The three hour journey from Montreal to Québec City was speedy and the chicken salad lunch on the way helped to prepare me for my arrival at Challenge Bell, Québec City.

After coming here for this tournament for as long as I can remember, the venue this year is new. The photos show how amazing centre court looks with with light blue carpet and a red 3,000-seated stadium. The matches this year will most definitely be noisy and fun.

We arrived, parked, went to the players area close to centre court and quickly sorted accreditations, parking passes and practise schedules for the next few days. Luckily for me Lauren (Davis) was around for a hit this afternoon to get the first taste of the blue carpet surface. She is a truly lovely girl and it is always great to get the chance to hit with her.

Above are photos of the new centre court with Lauren and I, plus Sofia (Arvidsson) and Lucie (Safarova), sharing the court for practise.

After I was lucky enough to have a massage on those sore spots from our Canadian master physio/body expert, Marlene, before heading back to the hotel to check in and enjoy a quiet dinner in the wonderful City of Québec at Toast Restaurant (you must try this place if you are here, very cool).

I play Bethanie Mattek-Sands first round (4th seed) in a few days time, not sure exactly when yet. You have to love these big games and I cannot wait to play in front of the home crowd!!

More to come tomorrow :)

Steph
