For once I had a very relaxed start to the day. A rare 11 hours sleep straight, which you must take advantage of when it comes along as a big part of your physical recuperation.

Playing the night session means arriving early at the site is just a big no no! The one thing you never want to do is be there too long and burn out before it's even time to step on the court.

I had lunch around 12h, took a walk around the old part of Québec City, enjoying the sun and keeping my body and mind relaxed before my work started later. My first job of the day was a telephone interview with the WTA at 14h before heading to the site around 15h. Sofia and I warmed up for 45 minutes at 16h, showered and changed into our match clothes before heading to a cocktail party organised by the tournament to meet sponsors and sign autographs for those that were there and wanted them. It is always nice to meet those people that follow you up close and in a relaxed environment.

Sofia and I went on court around 21h to play against the recent US Open Women's Doubles Champs. We had a lot of fun and played the way we wanted. The first set was very close, we had two points to go 6-5 up, but they managed to return really well on these points. There were a number of exciting plays from both sides, which I think the crowd enjoyed.

We lost in the end 7-5 6-2. They are a very good team, but we were proud of how we played. The crowd on the night was great and I very much look forward to playing singles tomorrow night versus Mattek-Sands.

Attached are some photos from our doubles, one action shot and one post match with coaches Bruno and Stefan. Thank you Sofia for being such a great partner.

Big day today tomorrow, first round singles :)
