Hello from Taipei everybody :)
It was an amazing week in Nanjing last week. I never thought I'd win because the field was so strong there - there were many great players in the draw. I had to go through Wickmayer, Morita and Saisai Zheng en route to the title - and I lost to Saisai both times we had played before. It's always a challenge for me to play her. That match means a lot to me - I think I actually beat myself when I beat her, because I can be my biggest opponent sometimes. And the doubles final too... it was just amazing.
I feel like I've improved a lot. Not just technique, but everything. After Guangzhou I really felt a confidence boost. I'm able to beat players with different playing styles now - before, I was only able to beat players with a certain style. In the last two months I've just played very consistently. It's easy to play one good match or a week of good matches, but it's not easy to keep it up for two months.
I feel quite tired physically but I'm still happy with the good results I've achieved this fall!
This week I'm at the OEC Taipei WTA Ladies Open. I got here last night, actually midnight this morning. I went from Nanjing to Beijing to get the visa, then flew to Hong Kong, then from there to Taipei. It was a long trip. It was tough, but I really like this tournament. And I started playing today!
I've been longing to play in Taipei for years. This is the first time I've come here actually. I'd love to see the city more - I haven't seen anything yet, maybe later in the week when I have a chance!
It's also my last tournament of the year, so I'm really looking forward to it...
I'm playing doubles with Kimiko this week - actually we lost our first match today, but it's not that we played badly, it's just our opponents played better than we did. It was a really good match.
Now I'm just going to go back to the hotel and get some sleep... talk to you all tomorrow!
