Hello everybody :)
Today was a great match for me - it was a good start. I played really well today and served really well. It was a fast match but it wasn't so easy, because Julia is a great player, and I think she just made a few more mistakes on the important points than I did. And then I had control of the match...
Last night I went out for dinner in the city with my team. It was actually close to the hotel. My brother was with us for a little bit but he had to go to the Real Madrid match! He's here with his wife. He lives in Romania but not in Bucharest like me, he lives in Constanta, where my parents live.
I couldn't go to the Real match because I had my match today :( But still I'm enjoying every moment here, it's my favorite tournament and it's very special for me, like I've been saying all week :) And the food here is great - but you have to watch what you eat because you can really put on the kilos...!
Right now I'm waiting for the on-court ceremony to remember Elena Baltacha. I found out this morning at breakfast. My coach told me and I could not eat anymore. It was a very tough moment for me - my aunt passed away recently, she had breast cancer then liver also, so this was a painful moment for me, and it is still a painful moment for me. But we have to accept everything and just stay strong...
After the ceremony I'll go back to the hotel. But first let me see some of the questions you sent me :)
If you could be any animal on the court, which animal would you be and why? Gavin, UK
"I'd be the rabbit, because he's very fast, and I like it!"
Other than Bucharest, what is your favorite city in Romania? Riki
"Constanta, of course! I was born there and lived there for about 14 years, so that's the one."
What is your favorite place to go on vacation? Evan, USA
"Good question. I went to Antalya in Turkey for my first vacation, and this year I'll go again, but I think also here in Madrid is nice to visit, and Rome too. I like both of these cities too."
Are you a dog person or a cat person? Alex, Greece/Belgium
"Dogs. Dogs. Cats, no."
Will you get Twitter? Steve
"I think I will soon, but I still don't have one. I want to speak with my fans and be more popular!"
