Gala León García

Former WTA player Gala León García has been appointed the captain of Spain's Davis Cup team by the Spanish Tennis Federation - the first female ever to become the Spanish Davis Cup captain.

León García's playing career was highlighted by one WTA title, at Madrid in 2000, and going as high as No.27 in the world that same year. Her best Grand Slam results were two fourth round showings, both at the French Open, in 1996 (falling to Iva Majoli) and 1999 (falling to Conchita Martínez).
