SINGAPORE - Youth and experience came together to be the sixth doubles team to qualify for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, the WTA's crown jewel event that boasts a $7-million purse that will take place at the Singapore Sports Hub from October 25 to November 1. US Open quarterfinalists and Aegon International Eastbourne champions Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik are the latest to earn berths for the eight-team field that will compete for the WTA Finals Martina Navratilova Trophy.

Garcia and Srebotnik will participate in the WTA Finals for the first time as a team, but the latter has plenty of history at seeking season-ending glory. Making her ninth appearance at the WTA Finals, Srebotnik finished runner-up on three occasions - 2007 (with Ai Sugiyama), and in back-to-back years in 2010 and 2011 (both with Kveta Peschke). The Slovenian qualified for the WTA Finals with Peschke last year, as well, reaching the semifinals.  Quickly catching up is Garcia, who is doing double duty in Singapore as she was voted to participate in the WTA Rising Stars Invitational alongside Ons Jabeur, Naomi Osaka, and Zhu Lin.

"It's been a great year for us, so we are very excited to qualify for the WTA Finals," said Garcia. "Kata and I had this goal at the beginning of the year - to qualify for the WTA Finals. We played a lot of tournaments together this year and improved every week. It's only the Top 8 teams in the world, the best of the best, so we are very proud to be there."

In addition to their Eastbourne victory, Garcia and Srebotnik also made three finals at the Brisbane International, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Suttgart, and the Rogers Cup in Toronto.

The teams join Australian Open and French Open champions Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova, Wimbledon and US Open winners Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza, US Open finalists Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova, Wimbledon runners-up Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, and Wimbledon semifinalists Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic.
