LONDON, England - WTA Rising Star Eugenie Bouchard had some star support in the stands during her third round match against Andrea Petkovic at Wimbledon on Saturday - Jim Parsons, star of CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, was at the All-England Club to cheer her on as she reached Week 2.
Bouchard, who won the match in two hard-fought sets, 6-3, 6-4, was asked how her friendship with the award-winning actor - three Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award, to name a few - began.
"It's a random pairing, right?" she said. "Well, it's been about a year since we've been in contact. Since then he's watched pretty much every match he could watch, or else he would follow on live scores. He's e-mailed me after every single match I've played. He's more positive than all of my team combined, so it's a refreshing change to get a nice e-mail with exclamation marks and smiley faces.
"It's really cool that he's here to finally watch me live. We talk about the mental aspect in tennis. He says how it's similar to him acting. He has to be in the moment on set and all these things."
And just how much does Bouchard like his show? "Love it. It's my favorite show. His character is my favorite character, so it's amazing that he's a fan of me because I'm the biggest fan of him."
