Biography
Since they started playing together in 2008, Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka have become one of the most formidable teams on the WTA, capturing eight titles together. Their biggest triumph so far came at the French Open in 2011, where they became the first all-Czech duo to win a Grand Slam doubles title since Jana Novotna and Helena Sukova at Wimbledon in 1990, making it through the entire draw without losing a set.
"A Grand Slam title is a great, great thing," Hradecka said. "Not a lot of people have it, so it's something special."
Since then, Hlavackova and Hradecka's accomplishments have included four more titles, runs to the 2012 Wimbledon and US Open finals and silver medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. They also qualified for the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships for the first time in 2012, reaching the final.
"We set a goal at the beginning of the season to be here," Hlavackova said. "We had some great results all year and when we qualified after the US Open we were so happy to be part of this big WTA event. It has been a great week."
