MELBOURNE, Australia - She didn't quite make it in the singles, but Russian Maria Kirilenko won through to her first Grand Slam semi in the Australian Open doubles on Wednesday night, partnering Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

In the last match on Rod Laver Arena the No.15 seeds, who were finalists at Dubai and Los Angeles last year, ended the surprising run of teenaged wildcards Laura Robson and Sally Peers, 64 61. Next up Kirilenko and Radwanska - who is also through to her first major semi of any kind, having reached the quarters at Roland Garros with sister Urszula last year - play Cara Black and Liezel Huber.

The the top seeds scored a routine win over seventh-seeded Alisa Kleybanova and Francesca Schiavone, 63 64.

The other semifinal, also due to be played on Thursday, pits defending champions Serena Williams and Venus Williams against No.6 seeds Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs, who won the title in 2000. Both teams came through tough three set quarterfinals on Tuesday.
