Better known for their singles success, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva can be dominant in doubles as well. That was proven by their run to the title at the 2012 Australian Open, despite only having played a handful of events together prior to that. It was the second doubles major for each of them.

Future Grand Slam appearances are a possibility, with the Russians perhaps eyeing a spot in the draw at this summer's Olympics.

"If we're fit enough to compete in singles and doubles, I'm sure we would like to do it," Zvonareva said. "It takes a lot out of you when you're competing in singles and in doubles. So we will see how it goes. If we're fit enough, maybe."
