TOKYO, Japan - Two more doubles matches were completed in rainy Tokyo on Tuesday, with two of this year's winningest teams beating tough opponents.

Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs, champions at Eastbourne and two-time runners-up this year, nearly lost the first set but bounced back to beat Nuria Llagostera Vives and María José Martínez Sánchez, 75 61. Raymond lost her serve at 4-all in the first set and Martínez Sánchez led 30-15 while serving for the set, but Raymond and Stubbs reeled off nine of the next 10 games.

Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, champions at Paris [Indoors] and Monterrey this year, had to fight back from 3-8 in the match tie-break to beat Hsieh Su-Wei and Alisa Kleybanova, 67(7) 61 119.

Both teams could face seeds next, with Raymond and Stubbs potentially playing No.4 seeds and reigning Wimbledon and US Open champions Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova and Benesova and Zahlavova Strycova potentially facing No.2 seeds Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik.

The remaining five first round matches are all scheduled for Wednesday.
