Karolina Pliskova sealed her 10th career WTA title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, and her big win helped her earn your votes to be named WTA Player of the Month for April.
The Czech No.1 defeated Volvo Car Open champion Kiki Bertens, Veronika Kudermetova, reigning French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, Anett Kontaveit and CoCo Vandeweghe with the loss of just one set combined to claim her first title of the season, and first on clay at Premier-level or higher.
Pliskova's win in Stuttgart might've been foreshadowed by a successful Fed Cup weekend at the Porsche Arena days earlier.
She went 1-1 overall for her country, defeating Angelique Kerber on the very same court where she won the Stuttgart trophy - and a brand-new Porsche - a week later, and helped the Czech Republic advance to November's Fed Cup final.
"I think it was a great week with a lot of tough matches. I just stayed there mentally which is always important. I know if I can be ready in the head that the body doesn’t matter that much," the World No.6 said after defeating Vandeweghe in the final.
"That was the case this week. I don't think I played my best tennis but it was still enough to make the title because I was motivated and I really wanted to win."
"Obviously there are a few tournaments more on clay. So, I think it was a good start but hopefully I can add some more victories on clay."
