BOGOTÁ, Colombia - Two seeds were upended Wednesday in the second round of the Copa Sony Ericsson Colsanitas on the red clay of Bogotá, meaning half of the eight seeds have been eliminated three days into the tournament.

Patricia Mayr, who is seeking her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title of any kind, upset No.4 seed Nuria Llagostera Vives, 76(8) 63. Llagostera Vives, who won the championship in Bogotá last year as a qualifier, was hurt by eight double faults. Mayr's quarterfinal opponent will be Ioana Raluca Olaru, who defeated Maret Ani, 64 62, after upsetting No.8 seed Lourdes Domínguez Lino in the first round.

No.2 seed Carla Suárez Navarro and No.7 seed María José Martínez Sánchez loom in the same half of the draw. Suárez Navarro plays Betina Jozami on Thursday, and Martínez Sánchez takes on wildcard Arantxa Parra Santonja.

In other action Wednesday, Edina Gallovits took down fifth-seeded Klara Zakopalova, 63 64. The result could hardly be called a surprise, though, as Gallovits has now won four straight matches against Zakopalova and has only lost to her once in her career.

Gallovits, who is also seeking her first Tour title, converted on four of her eight break chances and did not have her own serve broken in the match. Her previous best result in Bogotá was reaching the round of 16 last year. In the quarters, she will take on Masa Zec Peskiric, a 64 63 winner over Petra Cetkovska. Zec Peskiric upset top-seeded Flavia Pennetta in the first round.

Possible semifinal opponents for the Gallovits-Zec Peskiric winner include No.3 seed Gisela Dulko and No.6 seed Mathilde Johansson. On Thursday, Dulko has a second round match against Rossana de los Ríos, and Johansson plays qualifier Katalin Marosi.
