BEIJING, China - It has been evident that Chinese tennis has enjoyed a boom over the last few years, particularly after the historic doubles gold medal run four years ago in Athens by Li Ting and Sun Tiantian. Now there are three players in the singles Top 40 and two in the doubles Top 20, and the tennis powerhouse seems to be surging.

The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour recently opened its Asia-Pacific Headquarters in Beijing and now is proud to announce the launch of its brand new Mandarin website - the Tour's first ever non-English language website. It will feature all of the news of our English language website as well as a variety of original content on may of the marquee Chinese players.

Li Na and Zheng Jie have broken barriers for Chinese tennis over the last few years. Li's accolades include becoming the first Chinese to win a Tour singles title, reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam and crack the Top 30 and Top 20; Zheng went one better with her historic run to the semis of Wimbledon this year and, with Yan Zi, was part of the first ever Grand Slam-winning team from China, taking two doubles titles at majors in 2006. Both Li and Zheng have notched wins over world No.1s this year, and Sun became the third player to win a Grand Slam, taking the Australian Open mixed title this year. Peng Shuai has had a slew of Top 10 wins and is knocking on the door of history-making runs as well.
