FÈS, Morocco - Four of the five seeds in action on Day 2 of the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem advanced, including the Top 2, both of whom won in straight sets.

Top-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues, last year's runner-up, defeated Camille Pin for the third time in five career meetings, 61 61. The Spaniard, who is seeking her ninth Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title and eighth on red clay, next plays Klara Zakopalova, who recorded her 300th career singles match win by beating Urszula Radwanska, 75 62. Also Tuesday, No.2 seed Alisa Kleybanova, who is looking for her first Tour title of any kind, handled qualifier Corinna Dentoni, 62 64, to advance to the round of 16 against Jarmila Groth, who topped qualifier Paula Fondevila Castro, 63 75.

The other seeded players who moved on were No.3 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, No.7 seed Roberta Vinci and No.8 seed Shahar Peer. Pavlyuchenkova, a semifinalist at Indian Wells in March, routed Galina Voskoboeva, 61 62. Vinci, a surprise champion at the Barcelona Ladies Open two weeks ago, got past Mariana Duque Marino, 26 64 61. Peer edged Aravane Rezai, 64 26 64. The lone seed to go down Tuesday was No.5 seed Sorana Cirstea, who was upended by Lourdes Domínguez Lino, 63 64.

Also winning were Melinda Czink, Anne Keothavong, Lucie Hradecka, Akiko Morigami, qualifier Polona Hercog and lucky loser Eva Fernández-Brugues.

Wednesday's slate of second round matches is highlighted by Medina Garrigues versus Zakopalova, Kleybanova against Groth, Pavlyuchenkova versus Czink, No.6 seed Ekaterina Makarova against Morigami, Vinci versus Hercog and Peer against Hradecka.
