Loit Announces Retirement
Emilie Loit

PARIS, France - After falling in the first round at Roland Garros against Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky, 46 64 61 (having led 64 42), France's Emilie Loit announced this will be her last Sony Ericsson WTA Tour event. She will still compete in the doubles tournament this coming fortnight.

"Roland Garros is the perfect place to finish my career, a tournament that has always been my favorite," commented Loit, who turns 30 in two weeks. "I'm proud of what I've done. My win in Acapulco is probably my best memory."

Loit won three singles titles on the Tour, at Casablanca and Estoril in 2004 and Acapulco in 2007, and regularly gave big names trouble with her crafty, lefty style, beating four Top 20 players - including Top 10 wins over Conchita Martínez and Chanda Rubin. She also won an impressive 16 doubles titles on the Tour with several partners. She went as high as No.27 in singles and No.15 in doubles.
