There were many surprises at Roland Garros over the last two weeks and while several new faces surged up this week's rankings as a result, the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour's Top 10 was without any dramatic change.

Dinara Safina, Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Elena Dementieva held onto their Top 4 order, with Svetlana Kuznetsova inching up from No.7 to No.5 after winning Grand Slam glory in Paris, her first time to rank in the Top 5 since last year's US Open. Jelena Jankovic and Vera Zvonareva, who were No.5 and No.6 going into Roland Garros, each dipped one spot to No.6 and No.7.

After spending over two solid years inside the Top 10 - including 12 weeks at No.1 - Ana Ivanovic fell out of the elite this week, dipping from No.8 to No.13 after falling in the fourth round of her French Open title defense. As a result, Victoria Azarenka moved from No.9 to No.8; Caroline Wozniacki moved from No.10 to No.9; and Nadia Petrova rose from No.11 to No.10.

Surprise French Open semifinalists Dominika Cibulkova and Samantha Stosur both made major moves, with Cibulkova rising from No.19 to No.14 - bettering her previous career-high of 16, and Stosur rising from No.32 to No.18 - surging past her previous career-high of No.27. Li Na also jumped into the Top 20, rising from No.25 to No.20 after a fourth round finish in Paris, although she has been as high as No.16 before. It is her first week in the Top 20 since 2007.

Other ranking breakthroughs went to French Open quarterfinalist Sorana Cirstea, who broke into the Top 30 for the first time, rising from No.41 to No.27; and rising stars Michelle Larcher de Brito and Stefanie Voegele, who both cracked the Top 100 for the first time, Larcher de Brito rising from No.132 to No.90 and Voegele rising from No.104 to No.99. After recently dropping out of the Top 100 due to inactivity, Maria Sharapova also burst back in, going from No.102 to No.73 after a quarterfinal run on the terre battue.
