LOS ANGELES, CA, USA - Caroline Wozniacki was the envy of women across the globe this week when she had the opportunity to meet worldwide soccer sensation David Beckham and the rest of the LA Galaxy soccer team. Wozniacki, who was the No.4 seed at the LA Women's Tennis Championships presented by Herbalife, watched the team practice and did a meet-and-greet with then players and coaches in the blistering heat on this past Tuesday.
A huge fan of soccer - though admittedly an avid fan of Liverpool in England's Premier League - Wozniacki was excited to meet the biggest soccer player in the world while she was in town: "My family is a real soccer family - my father played and my brother played, so it's really interesting to come out here and watch."
After watching the practice for a while and empathizing with the team running sprints in the hot sun along with Patrick Donnelly, the team's Director of Communications, Wozniacki was then greeted by Cobi Jones, the team's Assistant Coach.
Eddie Lewis, LA Galaxy's Midfielder, was curious about warming up against one's opponent on the tennis court, while the team's General Manager Bruce Arena talked to Wozniacki about the rigorous exercise she gets on the court. Finally, Wozniacki got to briefly meet Beckham, who, like his teammates, was quite flushed from the heat and rigorous practice. Beckham wished her good luck in her match the following day against Sorana Cirstea.
A delighted Wozniacki beamed as she left the team's practice site: "Now that my break is over - I got to meet David! Now it's back on to the court!"
