LOS ANGELES, CA, USA - In a battle of two unseeded teams, Chuang Chia-Jung and Yan Zi got past Maria Kirilenko and Agnieszka Radwanska in a match tie-break, 60 46 107, in the final of the LA Women's Tennis Championships on Sunday to win their first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour doubles title together. Chuang now has 12 Tour doubles titles, and Yan has 16.

Remarkably, all four of the Asian duo's matches at the event were extended to match tie-breaks, including their quarterfinal victory over No.2 seeds Daniela Hantuchova and Ai Sugiyama. Also in the quarters, Kirilenko and Radwanska upended top seeds Samantha Stosur and Rennae Stubbs.

"This is the second year I've won the doubles title here, and I'm very happy I could come back and win again," said Chuang, who was victorious last year with Chan Yung-Jan. "We had a very good week even though it was our first time playing together. I hope we can play this well in Cincinnati next week."

"This is my 16th doubles title but first in a long time, so I'm very happy to win another title," said Yan, who hadn't won one since taking Strasbourg last spring with Tatiana Perebiynis. "We had a lot of close matches this week. Every match went to a tie-break, so it was very good experience for us."

There were no changes in the order of the Top 10 teams in the race to qualify for one of the four spots available for the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009, however, Stosur and Stubbs inched quite close to the all-important No.4 position, which is currently occupied by Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual. Two of the Top 4 teams are in action this week in Cincinnati: No.1 Cara Black and Liezel Huber and No.3 Nuria Llagostera Vives and María José Martínez Sánchez.
