Last week's events in Dubai, Memphis and Bogotá had significant ramifications on the February 22, 2010 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings, especially for a Colombian who had never previously been beyond the quarters of a Tour event.

Mariana Duque Marino's surprising run to her first Tour singles title on her home soil in Bogotá pushed her ranking from No.143 to No.94, a career-high and the first time she reached the Top 100 since October 2008, when she was ranked a then career-high of No.99. Her victim in Sunday's final, Angelique Kerber, also ascended to a career-high, going from No.85 to No.66 after reaching her first Tour singles final. In fact, the German had also never previously been beyond the quarters of a Tour event.

Making noise in Memphis was Maria Sharapova, who did not lose a set en route to her second title since returning to the Tour last May following a shoulder injury. She moved her from No.16 to No.13, her highest ranking since January 2009. Her victim in Saturday's final - Sofia Arvidsson - went from No.102 to No.79, her first venture into the Top 100 since last March.

Agnieszka Radwanska's semifinal showing in Dubai lifted her from No.9 to a career-high of No.8. Shahar Peer's inspiring run to the semis, where she lost to eventual champ Venus Williams, moved her from No.22 to No. 20 - her first time in the Top 20 since May 2008. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova's quarterfinal appearance sent her from No.38 to No.27, tying her career-high. Svetlana Kuznetsova's round of 16 showing was not especially noteworthy for her, except it did result in her rising one place and reclaiming the No.3 spot from Caroline Wozniacki, which she had relinquished on February 1.
