KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - The Chinese made a splash at the Aussie Open earlier this year but on Thursday the second of the power pair fizzled out of the Malaysian Open, with Zheng Jie falling to Chang Kai-Chen.
Zheng, the No.3 seed at the International-level event, was outclassed handily by the young Taiwanese, one of the brightest rising stars on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, 62 63. Chang broke Zheng five times during the 74-minute surprise.

In the only match between unseeded players, Chanelle Scheepers rallied past Tatjana Malek, who upset No.2 seed Li Na earlier in the week, 46 62 63.
No.1 seed Elena Dementieva, No.4 seed Alisa Kleybanova, Anastasia Rodionova and Ayumi Morita scored quarterfinal berths on Wednesday. The quarterfinals will take place Friday. Dementieva faces Rybarikova.
