Unseeded teams beat favored opponents in Saturday's Sony Ericsson WTA Tour doubles finals in Warsaw and Strasbourg.

Virginia Ruano Pascual and Meghann Shaughnessy had played in seven events together before this week, reaching finals twice, but never winning, until their 63 64 defeat of top-seeded Cara Black and Yan Zi at the Polsat Warsaw Open. It was Ruano Pascual's 43rd career doubles title on Tour, but first since last year's French Open, and Shaughnessy's 16th, but first since 2007.

See how both tournaments affected the new doubles rankings!

"I'm so happy to win. I'd like to visit Warsaw next year," said Ruano Pascual, who is retiring at the end of 2010. "I think we won today because we played so well together as a team."

Ruano Pascual and Shaughnessy did not drop a set all week.

Meanwhile, Alizé Cornet and Vania King edged No.2 seeds Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova, 36 64 107, in the Internationaux de Strasbourg final. The French-American duo had a bit of trouble closing out the match, as they raced out to a 9-2 lead in the match tie-break, but needed five match points before securing the title in their first outing together.

It was King's 10th career doubles title on Tour (and second this year) and Cornet's second. King also had a solid week in singles, as she reached the semifinals, and in fact, topped Cornet in the second round.
