PORTOROZ, Slovenia - World No.2 Jelena Jankovic is counting on the hardcourts in Portoroz to help her get back into top form for the US Open following a three week lay-off due to a back injury from Wimbledon.

Playing at the Banka Koper Slovenia Open will be foremost an opportunity to prepare for the next major goal for the 25-year-old Serb - the last Grand Slam of the year in Flushing Meadows, where she was a finalist in 2008.

"Portoroz has a great slot on the calendar, being the first tournament on hardcourt after Wimbledon. I'm using it as a warm-up for the US Open, with my top aim being to get back into the same form I was in before the injury."

On her US Open goals, Jankovic said, "My expectations are always high given that I've already been No.1. If I play my game, the results will come."

Jankovic, who opened her Portoroz campaign with a win in the doubles with compatriot Aleksandra Krunic on Monday, said she was enjoying her time at the Slovenian seaside resort: "I've been wanting to play at this tournament for some time. Now it's my first time, and I'm really enjoying myself," she said, adding that she was particularly happy her family and boyfriend could be here.

And when she is not training hard, the Belgrade-born star has taken some relaxation time. "I was at the beach, did some shopping and went for a trip to Italy. It's never nice to come back empty-handed so I bought some bikinis and dresses, while we all got some headgear to protect ourselves from the sun."
