PORTOROZ, Slovenia - A rare all-Slovenian duel took place at the Banka Koper Slovenian Open Wednesday, with an even rarer joint press conference following the match. Polona Hercog edged Katarina Srebotnik, 64 67(3) 63, and the pair only had kind words for each other afterwards.

Polona on Kata...
"I have a lot of respect for Katarina. She was my tennis idol since my childhood. It feels great to play such a match against her on home ground and in front of our cheering fans. I wish her all the best and hope she has a swift comeback."

Polona on the match...
"I was nervous at first. I tried to relax a little bit in the second set but I didn't play according to plan. She knew well how to take advantage of this. In the third set I went for all or nothing - luckily, I succeeded."

Kata on the match...
"I gave my best, but Polona was simply better. I was fighting hard until the end and was hoping to find my best game, but I was struggling with my serve a little bit and she was just too tough. Polona really picked it up in the third set."
