CINCINNATI, OH, USA - Playing for the first time since their shock run to the Wimbledon title, Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova picked their winning streak up again, winning their first round match in Cincinnati.

King and Shvedova, seeded No.5, broke Julie Ditty's serve once and Liga Dekmeijere's twice to beat the American-Latvian partnership, 64 64.

"It was really sweet to come back together with Slava. Today we didn't play our best but we played well enough," King said. "We both hadn't played doubles since Wimbledon so it was to be expected. The conditions were difficult - it was so hot and humid - so it was a good thing we were first on today!"

Playing in just their third tournament together, King and Shvedova followed up a semifinal in Birmingham and the finals in 's-Hertogenbosch with their first Grand Slam title, beating Elena Vesnina and Vera Zvonareva in the final.

They were the fifth unseeded team to win a major in the last 30 years. See how unlikely their run to the title was in this special doubles feature.

"It has been a wild last month," King added. "Both of us have gotten so many congratulations, it still feels surreal. We always have so much fun on the court, we really do. We're really looking forward to the US Open and want to see how well we can do there. And of course we'll always have fun!"

The only other seeded team in action, No.8 seeds Cara Black and Anastasia Rodionova, moved through as well, dispatching Nuria Llagostera Vives and Arantxa Parra Santonja, 63 64. Llagostera Vives' regular partner, María José Martínez Sánchez, is out this week with a right knee injury.
