NEW HAVEN, CT, USA - Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik battled past a pair of multiple Grand Slam champions Friday to reach their seventh final of the year at the Pilot Pen Tennis at Yale, and hope to change their finals luck.

Peschke and Srebotnik, the No.1 seeds this week, were up a set and 4-2 when Anabel Medina Garrigues and Yan Zi came alive, winning the second set then building a 6-3 lead in the match tie-break; but it wasn't to be, as the favorites won seven points in a row and the match, 76(4) 57 106.

"Medina and Yan are a very dangerous team. They were very solid and we had to be at our best to win," Srebotnik said after the match. "Kveta and I have good chemistry on and off the court and we play well together. We trust in each other's shots and most of the time, it's paying off and we're doing well."

Peschke and Srebotnik are 1-5 in finals this year, winning Indian Wells but falling at Dubai, Stuttgart, Roland Garros, Eastbourne and Montréal.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy will be their final opponents after a 75 61 win over Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai. Mattek-Sands and Shaughnessy found themselves at 3-5 in the first set before going on a tear, winning 10 of the next 11 games to reach their second final together.

"Hsieh and Peng came out unbelievably so it was a matter of hanging in there and staying aggressive, and we finally got on top and pulled off the win," Mattek-Sands said. "The draw here was incredibly stacked so it feels good to reach the final. That's the best we've played and it's a great result heading into the Open."

Mattek-Sands and Shaughnessy's first final came in Memphis earlier this year, where they were runners-up to Vania King and Michaella Krajicek.
