NEW YORK, NY, USA - The No.2-seeded team of Liezel Huber and Nadia Petrova had no trouble moving into the round of 16 in the doubles on Friday, beating Grand Slam champions the Bondarenko sisters, 63 62.

Huber and Petrova, who won Charleston together earlier this year, were too good for the 2008 Australian Open champions, and put Alona Bondarenko to 0-2 for the day, after the bigger Bondarenko sister lost her singles match earlier.

"Nadia and I fought well tonight against a very strong team," Huber, the No.1-ranked doubles player, said. "When you play the Bondarenko sisters you know you have to play aggressively and smart. I think we did that very well today."

Huber has tasted success at the Open, winning it in 2008 with Cara Black: "I love the atmosphere and the rowdy crowd here in New York! I love playing in the US and can't wait for the Fed Cup finals in November against Italy."

And the tennis memories aren't the only things keeping Huber happy in the Big Apple: "I love New York. We've been here for two weeks already. Besides the tennis, our highlight was going on a dinner cruise on the Hudson. We're also looking forward to going to a Broadway show but we haven't found the time yet."

No.6 seeds Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova also won through to the third round, the Wimbledon champions extending their Grand Slam winning streak to eight matches, but the only other Top 8 seeds in action, No.8 seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues and Yan Zi, were ousted by all-German pair Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Groenefeld, 75 62.
